About Us

The Ketchikan Afterschool Program started in 2019 with a simple idea: every kid in Ketchikan deserves a safe place to land after school, and a trusted adult who's glad to see them walk through the door. Since then we've provided thousands of hours of free programming for students in 6th-9th grade, building a space where kids can just be kids.

During the school year, KAP runs as an afterschool drop-in center for 6th-9th grade students until 5:30 pm. Supportive adult staff, free snacks, and fun activities are available to Ketchikan kids daily, and every Friday we provide a home-cooked meal. It's not just dinner. It's a chance for kids to slow down, connect, and feel like they belong somewhere.

Summer brings a full day camp schedule. Kids get out and experience Ketchikan in ways that stick with them: ziplining through the rainforest canopy, fishing trips out on the water, hiking our local trails, hands-on STEAM projects, and days at the beach. Whether it's a fishing rod in their hands for the first time or a science experiment they built themselves, the goal is the same: give kids real experiences, real connection, and real reasons to look forward to being here.

KAP is one part of Resilient Youth & Community's visition to give Ketchikan's youth the support, relationships, and opportunities they need to thrive.
